Another Paratrooper’s Body Recovered In South Kashmir’s Kokernag After ‘Snowstorm’

The body of another Paratrooper has been recovered from the upper reaches of Kokernag in South Kashmir, three days after the duo went missing during an anti-militancy operation in the area amid a severe snowstorm.

Officials said the soldier’s body was located during the ongoing search and rescue operation launched soon after communication was lost with the two personnel during the adverse weather conditions.

Earlier, the body of one Paratrooper was recovered from the same area. Both soldiers had been part of a special operation team conducting searches in the snowbound heights of Kokernag.

The recovery of the second body has brought an end to the intensive search that continued despite rough terrain and freezing temperatures.

Army sources said the mortal remains will be sent for formal identification and subsequent completion of military honors. [KNT]
