The first-ever TED event in Doda, TEDxGMC Doda, was held with great enthusiasm and intellectual fervour at Government Medical College, Doda, marking a historic milestone for the region. The independently organized TEDx event revolved around the inspiring theme “The Art of Possibility”, celebrating the power of human imagination, resilience, and innovation.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Harvinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner Doda, who attended as a Guest Speaker, and Mr. Sandeep Mehta, SSP Doda, along with Mr. Javid Iqbal, Principal GDC Doda, who were the Guests of Honour. Their words of encouragement added immense value and motivation to the gathering.
The event brought together an extraordinary line-up of speakers from diverse walks of life:
Col. Virendra Kumar Sahi, VrC, a 1971 war hero and Veer Chakra awardee, who captivated the audience with his moving narration of courage, leadership, and patriotism.
Ms. Sandhya Dhar, Nari Shakti Puruskar awardee, disability rights activist, and founder of the JIGER Institute, who shared her remarkable journey of determination and empowerment.
Mr. Meet Zaveri, a young visionary entrepreneur and founder of Digineer and Studio Odhkan, inspired the youth with his insights on creativity, technology, and the power of self-belief.
Dr. Parvaiz Alam, an award-winning psychiatrist, Charles Pinto Award recipient, and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at GMC Rajouri, delivered an impactful talk on mental health and human resilience.
Dr. Rakesh Bahl, the visionary Principal of GMC Doda and a distinguished professor of Community Medicine, spoke about the topic “Comfort kills more dreams than failure ever did”
The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. Garima Charak, Chairperson of the TEDx Committee, along with Member Secretary Dr Khalid Muzaffar and members Dr. Babar Rashid Zargar, Dr. Sumat ul Khurshid, and Dr. Waleed K. Balwan.
The day witnessed dynamic talks, engaging performances, and creative showcases, creating an atmosphere charged with ideas worth spreading. The event concluded with a networking lunch, allowing guests, speakers, and attendees to interact and exchange thoughts over a warm and collaborative ambience.
TEDxGMC Doda successfully embodied the spirit of TED — “Ideas Worth Spreading” — leaving the audience inspired to explore new frontiers of possibility and purpose.
