On the birth anniversary of the revered nationalist leader Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, fondly called Sher-e-Duggar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid rich tributes across Jammu and Kashmir today. This commemorative event highlighted the enduring legacy of a leader who dedicated his life to the cause of national integration.
In Srinagar, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, who oversees Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh affairs, led the tribute by garlanding Dogra’s portrait at the party office. Senior BJP leaders, including Sat Sharma, J&K BJP President, Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization), Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, and Anwar Khan, also participated in the ceremonial floral offerings, cementing the leader’s importance in the party’s narrative.
During the event, Tarun Chugh celebrated Pt. Dogra as “an institution of national integration and selfless service.” He emphasized that Dogra’s relentless fight for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’ continues to resonate within the BJP today. Chugh articulated the significance of this struggle, asserting the recent abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi Government as a realization of Pt. Dogra’s lifelong aspirations. “This act stands as the ultimate tribute to his steadfast commitment to national unity,” he asserted.
Sat Sharma echoed these sentiments, describing Pt. Dogra as a visionary who catalyzed the historical Praja Parishad Movement and devoted himself entirely to ensuring the complete integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India. Sharma mentioned, “Pandit Ji’s long-cherished dream has been realized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Meanwhile, Ashok Koul reflected on Dogra’s moral commitment, recalling how he led the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement with an unwavering conviction that ultimately led to the dissolution of the distinct Prime Minister position in J&K. Koul’s remarks highlighted the lasting impact of Dogra’s ideology on state politics.
In Jammu, BJP leaders commemorated the legacy of Pt. Dogra with a Hawan ceremony at Dogra Chowk, where prominent figures including MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Baldev Singh Billawaria offered floral tributes. Sharma remarked, “Pt. Dogra was a towering statesman and patriot who led the historic Praja Parishad Movement for full integration of J&K with India.”
Sanjita Dogra urged party workers to draw inspiration from Pandit Ji’s selflessness and dedication, while Baldev Singh Billawaria emphasized the significance of Dogra’s ideology in the unification of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union. The event today serves as a reminder of the substantial contributions made by Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, whose ideals continue to guide the BJP in its political endeavors.
