Gool Sub-Division Disaster Preparedness Meeting in Ramban

RAMBAN, JULY 08: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool Imtiaz chaired a Sub-Division Level Disaster Management and Coordination Meeting today. The meeting focused on enhancing disaster preparedness and ensuring effective relief measures for natural hazards across the region.

The meeting took place in Gool, with notable attendees including Tehsildar Harjeet Singh, SDPO Kuldeep Raj, and representatives from various departments such as Agriculture, Jal Shakti, and Police. Officers from the Health department, PDD, and SDRF also participated, showcasing a collaborative approach to disaster management.

During the session, officials reviewed the existing disaster management plan, assessing the availability of men and machinery. They discussed crucial aspects such as the stock of essential commodities, functioning control rooms, and communication systems necessary for timely responses to disasters.

With the monsoon season nearing, SDM Imtiaz alerted all line departments to maintain high vigilance. He emphasized round-the-clock monitoring of vulnerable areas prone to landslides and flash floods. This proactive stance aims to minimize risks and safeguard lives.

The SDM urged the Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY departments to identify at-risk locations, preparing restoration teams and necessary machinery for immediate action. He instructed the Health department to ensure the availability of medicines, ambulances, and medical personnel at Community Health Center (CHC) Gool and Primary Health Centers (PHCs).

Furthermore, the SDM directed the FCS&CA department to keep a buffer stock of rations. The PDD was tasked with arranging backup power supplies to maintain essential services during emergencies.

Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars received guidelines to carry out regular inspections of susceptible areas, maintaining updated lists of disaster-prone zones. They also hold the responsibility of fostering public awareness regarding safety measures during disasters.

The police and 23 RR units will support rescue and evacuation efforts during emergencies. Beacon representatives are committed to ensuring the swift restoration of roads to maintain accessibility.

SDM Imtiaz underscored that prioritizing the safety of lives and property remains the administrative focus. He reiterated that effective coordination, timely interventions, and public cooperation can significantly reduce the impact of natural calamities.

This strategic meeting highlights India’s commitment to disaster preparedness, particularly in Gool, Ramban. As officials gear up for potential challenges posed by the monsoon, the unified approach taken will undoubtedly serve as a backbone in safeguarding communities.
