Kangana Ranaut Accuses Congress of Politicising Ram Temple Issue for Electoral Gains

Kangana Ranaut on Thursday accused the Indian National Congress of attempting to derive political mileage from the Ram Temple issue, alleging that the party, which had opposed the temple’s construction for years, was now trying to exploit public faith for electoral gains.

In a statement, the BJP MP said the Himachal Congress had failed in its attempt to build a political narrative around Lord Ram and the Ram Temple, asserting that people across the state and the country were fully aware of what she described as the party’s “double standards.”

Ranaut said Lord Ram symbolises the faith of millions of Indians and that the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya became possible only after centuries of struggle, sacrifice and devotion.

She alleged that the Congress had consistently pursued appeasement politics and had attempted to obstruct the construction of the temple. According to her, after the completion of the grand temple, the party is now trying to use the issue for political advantage.

The BJP MP also criticised the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that it had attempted to exercise control over the funds and resources of temples and religious institutions in the state.

She claimed that the state government had sought to utilise temple funds for various government schemes, saying such actions reflected the Congress party’s approach towards religious institutions.

Ranaut maintained that the BJP has consistently worked for the protection of Sanatan culture, religious traditions and India’s civilisational heritage. She said the party has always regarded faith as an integral part of the country’s cultural identity rather than an instrument of vote-bank politics.

She further alleged that the people had recognised the Congress party’s political approach and expected the Himachal Pradesh government to focus on development, good governance and fulfilling its promises instead of creating controversies over matters of faith.
