Islamabad, July 30: Bushra Bibi, the wife of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been named as a suspect in 11 separate cases, including the high-profile attack on the army headquarters on May 9 of the previous year. This update was provided to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) by the Rawalpindi district police on Tuesday.
The Rawalpindi police presented a detailed report to the IHC, outlining the cases registered against Bushra Bibi, 49, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail alongside her husband. The court had previously instructed authorities to provide a comprehensive account of the cases involving Bibi.
In compliance with the court’s order, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor submitted a response indicating that four cases have been filed against Bushra Bibi with NAB—three in Rawalpindi and one in Lahore. However, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Balochistan police have yet to provide details regarding the cases against her.
The IHC has issued fresh notices to the FIA and Balochistan police, requiring them to submit their reports by Monday. The court has adjourned the case until then.
Bushra Bibi, who married Imran Khan in 2018 and became his third wife, was once regarded as a powerful figure during Khan’s tenure. However, following the fall of Khan’s government, she has been implicated in numerous legal cases.
Among the various accusations against her are allegations related to the Army Museum, the attack on GHQ Gate 4, the burning of a sensitive military building in Saddar Cantt, and the assault on an intelligence agency office on Murree Road. Additional charges include incidents of arson, rioting, and vandalism in several locations, including RA Bazaar, Civil Line, New Town, City, Waris Khan, and Taxila police stations.
