Jammu & Kashmir Police Chief Highlights Role of Sports in Youth Engagement at First Kashmir Hockey League

Srinagar – In a powerful endorsement of sports as a tool for youth engagement and community development, Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, R. R. In his address to reporters, DGP Swain underscored the multifaceted benefits of sports, emphasizing its role in fostering healthy competition, teamwork, and physical fitness. “Sports involves healthy competition, builds team spirit, and serves as significant physical exercise. It is one of the most impactful activities for engaging youth in a positive manner,” Swain remarked.

It is crucial that we continue to promote these opportunities among the younger generation,” he stated.

The DGP also commended the support from private enterprises and the Gurudwara committee, noting their role in advancing the hockey league. “It is encouraging to see that the promotion of our national sport, hockey, is being supported not just at the governmental level, but also by private entrepreneurs,” Swain added.

The event was attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, VK Birdi, and Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, who were present to support the league’s launch and acknowledge the contributions of all involved parties.
