ED Files Supplementary Charge Sheet in Land-for-Jobs Scam Against Lalu Prasad and Others

Date: August 6, 2024

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a supplementary charge sheet against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his son Tejashwi Yadav, and eight others in connection with the ongoing land-for-jobs scam. The charge sheet was presented before Special Judge Vishal Gogne, who has scheduled the matter for consideration on August 13.

This charge sheet is part of a broader investigation triggered by an FIR lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The case involves allegations of irregularities in Group-D appointments made within the West Central Zone of the Indian Railways, specifically in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. These appointments, which occurred during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, are alleged to have been made in exchange for land parcels. These lands were purportedly gifted or transferred by the recruits in the names of Prasad’s family members or associates, as outlined by the ED.

Court Hearing: Special Judge Vishal Gogne will review the case on August 13.
