Auqib Nabi’s Spell Leads J&K to Historic Innings Victory

In a remarkable display of talent, Jammu and Kashmir’s cricket team achieved a historic innings victory over Rajasthan during their Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match played at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Led by Auqib Nabi, whose stunning bowling performance set the tone for the match, J&K triumphed by an innings and a massive margin.

After resuming their second innings at a precarious 41 for 5, Rajasthan struggled to find solid footing as Nabi unleashed a relentless bowling attack. Exploiting the conditions perfectly, the right-arm pacer dismantled the Rajasthan batting order with a hair-raising **7 wickets for just 24 runs in 11 overs**. His exceptional control over seam and swing left the Rajasthan batsmen confused and deprived of viable scoring opportunities.

With J&K already in a commanding position, Yudhvir Singh supported Nabi exceptionally well, claiming 2 wickets for 33 runs in 8.5 overs. Together, they orchestrated a catastrophic collapse for Rajasthan, who could only muster a paltry 89 runs in their second innings, leaving the team devastated.

Despite minor resistance from Deepak Hooda, who scored 28 runs, and Deepak Chahar with 26 runs, the rest of the batting line-up could not withstand the sheer force applied by the J&K bowlers. Their inability to forge a robust partnership sealed their fate early in the innings.

Auqib Nabi’s all-round performance not only helped J&K secure this emphatic win but also earned him the coveted Player of the Match award. His breathtaking bowling especially highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s emerging capabilities in domestic cricket.

The match attracted considerable attention, with BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Brig Anil Gupta, Member (Administration) of JKCA, present at the venue to witness this historic triumph. They expressed their delight over the achievement, recognizing it as a “landmark achievement” for the state.

This victory marks a significant milestone in Jammu and Kashmir’s cricketing history. It represents not just a win, but serves as a testament to the team’s growing strength and determination in the national cricket arena. The assertive performance in such a prestigious tournament indicates their future potential and aspirations.
