NDA Surges Ahead in Bihar Assembly Elections Amid Counting Trends

PATNA, Nov 14: In a significant turn of events, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has taken an early lead in the ongoing Bihar Assembly election results, showing a strong performance by leading in 166 out of 243 seats, according to the Election Commission.

The NDA’s early advantage places them well above the majority mark of 122 seats. In contrast, the opposition coalition, INDIA bloc, lags far behind with leads in only 59 seats. Election officials caution that these figures may fluctuate as the counting process continues through several more rounds.

As the counting progresses, the vote trends indicate that within the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads in 72 seats, followed closely by the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) in 71 seats. The Lok Janshakti Party (Rashtirya) (LJP-RV) registers leads in 18 seats, Hindustan Awami Morcha (Secular) (HAM-S) in four, and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Manch (RLM) shows a presence in one seat.

Conversely, among the INDIA bloc, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) garners visibility with leads in 43 seats. The Congress party follows with a representation in eight seats. Other parties like CPI(ML)-Liberation, CPI, and CPI(M) aren’t far behind, claiming six, one, and one seat respectively.

The Jan Suraaj Party, led by noted political strategist Prashant Kishor, alongside Mukesh Sahani’s VIP, trails in all the constituencies they contested, indicating a tough election season for these emerging players.

Several key candidates from major parties highlight the competitive race. RJD’s Khesari Lal Yadav faces difficulty in Chhapra, trailing behind his rivals, while BJP’s Maithili Thakur holds a lead in Alinagar. In Ragunathpur, Osama Shahab of the RJD shows potential with a lead, whereas JD(U) minister Leshi Singh has a robust position in Dhamdaha.

Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav, the chief ministerial face for the INDIA bloc, manages to hold a lead in Raghopur, signaling a glimmer of hope for his supporters. Significant leads also come from Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary in Tarapur and Vijay Kumar Sinha in Lakhisarai.

In the Mahua constituency, Tej Pratap Yadav from the RJD ranks lower than expected, currently sitting in fourth place, while LJP(RV)’s Sanjay Kumar Singh leads in this key electoral battle.
