Jammu, Oct 9:Police in Udhampur have filed a case against the owner and staff members of a local hotel for allegedly failing to report the stay of a foreign national, a violation of the Foreigners Act.
According to officials, the issue came to light during a routine verification when it was discovered that Hotel Samrat management had not submitted Form C — a mandatory online report that must be filed for every foreign guest staying at a property.
Authorities said the hotel did not inform the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, who also serves as the Foreigners Registration Officer, about the visitor’s stay as required by law.
Following this lapse, a case was registered at the Udhampur Police Station, and an investigation has been initiated.
Police have also reminded all hotel and guest house operators to strictly follow legal procedures regarding the accommodation of foreign nationals and ensure the timely filing of Form C to prevent legal consequences.
