On Monday, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, formally opened a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in the Khour area. This significant initiative aims to enhance sports infrastructure across the border regions of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma emphasized that the government is committed to providing modern, inclusive sports facilities to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the importance of focusing on rural and border areas to foster a robust sports culture, promote discipline, and encourage a healthy lifestyle among younger generations.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent. Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to lack of facilities,” Sharma stated during the inauguration.
The newly inaugurated indoor hall boasts cutting-edge facilities designed to accommodate multiple sports disciplines simultaneously. It features three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, two judo courts, as well as two wrestling and kabaddi courts. This comprehensive training environment aims to empower athletes in their sporting pursuits.
Sharma also took the time to engage with local youth and sportspersons, encouraging them to make optimal use of the new facility. He reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment to prioritizing sports infrastructure development, youth engagement, and talent promotion across Jammu and Kashmir.
The inauguration of this modern indoor sports hall is set to significantly boost sporting activities in the Khour area and its adjoining regions. This development means young athletes can now access world-class facilities closer to their homes, enabling them to hone their skills in a supportive and well-equipped environment.
This initiative not only illustrates the government’s dedication to sports but also reflects a strategic vision for promoting physical fitness and excellence among the youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
