No Religion Allows Killing Innocents: CM Omar Abdullah

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the tragic killing of two migrant labourers in Kulgam district, emphasizing that no religion allows the shedding of innocent blood. Speaking to reporters on July 31, Abdullah described the incident as “very unfortunate” and asserted that security forces must prevent such acts of violence.

The incident occurred at a brick kiln, where assailants targeted the workers who had migrated from Chhattisgarh. During his address, Abdullah expressed his sympathy for the families of the victims and called for heightened vigilance from those responsible for maintaining law and order.

“The killing is very unfortunate. It shouldn’t have happened. No religion permits killing innocent people like this. Words are not enough to condemn it,” Abdullah remarked. His comments reflect a broader call for communal harmony and peace in the region, which has faced sporadic violence.

The Chief Minister’s statement underscores the necessity for a robust security framework to protect vulnerable populations, particularly migrant workers who often find themselves in perilous situations.

“It is expected from those whose responsibility it is to maintain security that they will not let such attacks take place,” he added, urging authorities to ensure the safety of all citizens.

The tragic loss of lives in Kulgam reiterates the urgent need for dialogue and reconciliation among communities in Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah’s strong stance against violence serves as a reminder of the importance of fostering an environment free from fear and hostility.
