DC Anantnag Reviews Cloudburst Damage, Orders Swift Restoration of Essential Services

Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, on Saturday visited the cloudburst-affected areas of Awoora and adjoining villages to assess the extent of damage and review ongoing restoration efforts.

Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Muzamil Maqbool Beig, Superintending Engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD), Jal Shakti Department, KPDCL, and other senior officials, the Deputy Commissioner conducted an on-site inspection of the affected locations.

During the visit, Dr. Bhat reviewed the damage caused to water supply schemes, pipelines, electricity poles and cables, roads, river embankments, private properties, and other public infrastructure. He directed all concerned departments to accelerate restoration work, clear debris from roads and pathways, and restore essential services on a priority basis.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to mobilize additional manpower and machinery to ensure the earliest possible restoration of public utilities. He also called for long-term and sustainable measures to reduce the impact of such natural disasters in the future.

Interacting with local residents, Dr. Bhat assured affected families of all possible assistance from the district administration and emphasized close coordination among all line departments to restore water supply, electricity, and road connectivity with minimal inconvenience to the public.

Officials informed that teams from the Jal Shakti Department, Roads & Buildings Department, Power Development Department, and other agencies are working on the ground to restore normalcy. Earlier, on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, a team led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner had also visited the affected areas to assess the situation.
