GMC Jammu Secures 105th National Rank in IIRF 2026 Rankings Among 823 Medical Colleges

Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu has achieved a significant national distinction by securing the 105th rank among 823 medical colleges across India in the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2026 rankings. The institution has also secured the 33rd position in the North Zone, marking another important milestone in its journey towards academic and institutional excellence.
GMC Jammu recorded an impressive Overall Weighted Index of 804.25 out of 1000. The latest ranking reflects the institution’s performance across key parameters including teaching and learning, research, infrastructure, social inclusion, future orientation and external perception. �

The college secured 133.50 marks in Teaching, Learning Resources and Pedagogy, 134.45 in Research Outcome, 138.58 in Innovative Medical Infrastructure, 135.00 in Social Inclusion, 129.00 in Future Orientation and 125.00 in External Perception. �

The achievement is being attributed to the sustained efforts of the faculty, resident doctors, students, nursing officers, paramedical staff and other employees of the institution. The coordinated efforts towards strengthening academics, research, healthcare delivery and institutional infrastructure have contributed significantly to GMC Jammu’s growing national stature.
Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal & Dean, Government Medical College Jammu, expressed satisfaction over the recognition and congratulated the entire GMC Jammu fraternity on the achievement. He appreciated the dedication and commitment of faculty members, resident doctors, students, nursing staff, paramedical personnel and all employees who have contributed to the institution’s progress.

He reiterated the institution’s commitment to continuously improving the quality of medical education, expanding research activities, strengthening patient-centric healthcare services and developing state-of-the-art infrastructure in accordance with national and international standards.
The ranking exercise has also highlighted the growing emphasis of GMC Jammu on academic excellence, research, innovation, inclusive growth and quality healthcare delivery.
