UP Government Shares SIT Report on Ayodhya Donation Theft

The Uttar Pradesh government handed over the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) final report regarding the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Teerth Kshetra Trust on Tuesday. This significant development follows a thorough investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donated funds.

According to sources, the SIT’s comprehensive report aims to address the alleged misappropriation of offerings made at the revered temple. It comes after the reconstitution of the SIT, which now includes three senior IPS officers to bolster the inquiry. This newly formed team is led by IG Kiran S, with DIG Ayodhya Somen Verma and SSP Ayodhya Dr Gaurav Grover supporting the investigation.

The situation escalated on Monday when the Supreme Court prohibited the Uttar Pradesh government’s status report from being disclosed to members of the petitioner group or the public at this stage. However, the Court allowed the petitioners and other concerned parties to submit recommendations to the Solicitor General, who would relay them to the SIT for further consideration.

The alleged donation theft scandal has involved significant sums, raising serious concerns about the management of temple donations. The Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant ordered the SIT to provide a status update in the next hearing, emphasizing the probe’s importance.

The SIT’s investigation follows allegations of systematic theft orchestrated by temple staff and bank employees. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s handling of the situation has come under scrutiny, leading to mounting pressure from the Opposition demanding accountability.

Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. Avinash Shukla, Ankalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Rama Shankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava, and Rama Shankar alias Tinnu are currently under judicial remand as investigators continue to unravel the complex web of allegations.

The FIR was filed on June 25 at the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station by Krishanmohan, a trust member alleging a conspiracy involving temple employees responsible for managing donations. The police complaint details a coordinated effort to siphon off funds meant for the sacred institution.

This high-profile case shines a light on the political and administrative accountability surrounding one of the most significant religious sites in India. The ongoing investigation and resulting political fallout could have lasting implications for the Uttar Pradesh government, particularly as public sentiments continue to express outrage over the alleged misappropriation of temple donations.

As the investigation progresses, the temple trust remains committed to transparency and resolution, ensuring that all aspects of this case are thoroughly examined and justice is served. The fate of the investigation hangs in the balance as revelations unfold, prompting widespread public interest and concern.
