Major Security Alert Triggers Investigation in Ramban District

A major security alert unfolded in Ramban district on Friday as a Scorpio vehicle, bearing registration number JK02AK-1743, breached a police checkpoint at Chanderkote and sped away towards Nashri around 3.30 a.m. Despite repeated attempts to stop the vehicle, it continued its escape, leading to a prompt and extensive response from law enforcement.

Police personnel stationed at the Chanderkote security checkpoint signalled the vehicle to halt. However, the driver allegedly disregarded the instructions and accelerated away. In response to the situation, police officials fired three rounds in an effort to stop the fleeing vehicle, but the Scorpio remained unyielding as it raced towards Nashri.

This incident triggered a swift mobilization of resources, resulting in a large-scale search operation involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Army. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta, actively supervised the operation to locate the elusive vehicle.

In a significant development, the police successfully seized the suspected vehicle near Dalwas later the same day. SSP Arun Gupta provided an update, stating, “The district police have seized the suspicious Scorpio near Dalwas, and further investigation is underway. Detailed information will be shared after the investigation progresses.”

The authorities intensified their search operations in the vicinity following the incident. As security forces combed through the area, they aimed to uncover the reasons behind the vehicle’s evasive maneuvers at the checkpoint.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that they are exploring all aspects of the incident. The breach of security at a checkpoint raises significant concerns, particularly in the current context of ongoing security operations in the region.

Officials urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue to ascertain the motives behind this alarming incident. Residents and travelers in the Ramban district are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure safety and security for everyone.
