Sri Lanka began Day 5 at 84/4, relying on strong resistance from Dinusha and Dhananjaya de Silva, who together amassed 95 runs before a breakthrough by Jadeja ended Dhananjaya’s stay at 59. Dinusha’s valiant effort continued, but Suthar swiftly turned the tide by clinching three wickets in the 76th over, concluding the innings with a final strike on Nuwantha.
Initially, India posted a formidable 464 runs in their first innings, capitalized by Padikkal’s 167 and Rahul’s 82. Responding, Sri Lanka managed 284 runs, with Dinusha being the standout performer.
