Five CRPF Personnel Injured in Highway Accident in J&K

At least seven individuals, including five CRPF personnel, sustained injuries on Tuesday after a serious accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The collision involved a head-on impact between a paramilitary mini-truck and a large truck, occurring in the Qazigund region.

The mishap transpired at Levdora in Qazigund, a critical area known for its traffic. Officials reported that five personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were aboard the paramilitary vehicle, and all of them suffered injuries, including four officers.

In addition to the CRPF members, the driver and the conductor of the truck also sustained injuries during this unfortunate incident. Emergency responders swiftly transported all the injured individuals to a nearby hospital.

According to hospital sources, the conditions of the injured personnel are stable, alleviating initial concerns for their health. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to this collision, seeking to determine the precise factors contributing to the crash.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of road safety in Jammu and Kashmir, where the mountainous terrain often complicates travel. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, a crucial route for both military and civilian traffic, has witnessed numerous accidents over the years.

Officials urge caution among drivers, emphasizing the need for maritime awareness and adherence to traffic regulations, particularly in vulnerable zones. Local authorities are likely to review safety protocols to enhance the security of travelers on the highway.

As investigations continue, the CRPF has assured that they will support their personnel and conduct health assessments. In a statement, a senior officer expressed hope for a quick recovery for the injured members of the force.
