Ahead of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, Jammu and Kashmir Police initiated long-range patrolling and conducted an anti-terror mock drill in Samba district on Tuesday. The operations aimed to assess operational preparedness and strengthen security measures to ensure a swift response in case of any potential threats.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police undertook the long-range patrolling, covering approximately 20 kilometers from Jatwal to Lala Chak along the Jammu-Pathankot national highway. This extensive patrol serves as a proactive measure to bolster security in the region.
Following the patrol, the police executed a mock drill at the border police post in Lala Chak, simulating a terror attack scenario. During this exercise, personnel acted against two simulated terrorists attempting to attack an establishment. The SOG promptly established a cordon around the designated area, effectively neutralizing the simulated threat presented in the drill.
The purpose of this mock drill was to rigorously evaluate the response mechanisms, coordination, tactical preparedness, and contingency-handling capabilities of the police personnel. These aspects are crucial in ensuring public safety, especially during significant national events.
Samba’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Anuj Kumar, emphasized the police’s unwavering commitment to maintaining robust security measures in the face of potential challenges. He reassured the public of their safety, particularly in light of the impending Independence Day celebrations.
