Jammu: Satish Sharma, General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress and former Chairman of Jammu Municipal Corporation, met Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary to discuss pressing public issues on Tuesday in Kashmir. In this pivotal meeting, Sharma emphasized the urgent need to grant Sub-District Hospital status to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Gangyal, alongside addressing road infrastructure and safety concerns.
With a rapidly increasing population in Gangyal, the demand for better healthcare facilities at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital has become paramount. Sharma articulated that local residents heavily rely on this hospital, and upgrading its status would enhance the availability of specialist doctors, medical staff, and essential medical equipment. Currently, many individuals are forced to travel long distances for medical assistance. He urged that this change would significantly improve healthcare access for residents.
“If Rajiv Gandhi Hospital achieves Sub-District Hospital status, it will provide nearby healthcare services, eliminating the need for long trips,” Sharma stressed. His remarks highlighted a key community concern regarding the accessibility of critical healthcare services.
Beyond healthcare, Sharma also voiced concerns about the abhorrent condition of roads in Gangyal. He called for immediate surveys and blacktopping work on local roads. Residents endure daily challenges due to potholes and poor road conditions, impacting students, commuters, and daily travelers.
Sharma further drew attention to a crucial infrastructure issue: the damaged bridge over the canal at Bawaliana. “The current state of this bridge poses serious obstacles for daily commuters, especially during the rainy season,” he asserted. He urged that authorities prioritize the reconstruction of this bridge to enhance mobility for locals.
Adding to the list of pressing demands, Sharma pointed out the critical need for a road in Dadap Panchayat. He argued that the lack of proper road connectivity severely hinders the development of the area. “Better road infrastructure will not only facilitate transportation but also boost local development,” he noted.
In response to these concerns, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary assured Sharma that his demands would receive top priority. Choudhary committed to directing the relevant officials to address these issues swiftly. His assurance aims to alleviate the residents’ concerns and bring about much-needed improvements in Gangyal.
